Sutton Preferred Realty Inc. – Generous Supporter of the Ronald McDonald House Charities Southwestern Ontario

INGERSOLL, ON– On August 29th, 2024, the 33rd annual Sutton Preferred Realty Golf Tournament was held in support of the Ronald McDonald House Charities Southwest Ontario (RMHCSWO). This year’s tournament saw 88 golfers hit the green alongside Sutton Preferred Realty’s very own Lori and Ken Payne, raising over $10,000 in donations for the charity organization. Lori’s family and the agents at Sutton Preferred Realty have maintained a longstanding relationship with the RMHCSWO, and they’ve generously supported the organization for the past decade.

The annual tournament plays a vital role in helping RMHCSWO provide critical services for families of sick children receiving treatment far from home. With three locations in Southwestern Ontario, the charity offers families accommodation and a home-like environment for just $10 a night, ensuring that they can remain together during difficult times.

The connection between Lori’s family and RMHCSWO began 10 years ago when her children started volunteering at the House. Inspired by the impact they saw, Lori and her family gathered a team of agents from Sutton Preferred Realty to assist. Once a month, over the past decade, they’ve prepared and served meals for the families staying at RMHCSWO. Lori’s brokerage started by purchasing all the groceries, and agents volunteered their time to cook and serve, offering a comforting meal to parents and children. Over the years, the program has evolved, providing a greater variety of food options, and ensuring families have nourishing meals while they focus on their children’s care.

This year, the tournament raised an impressive $10,510, bringing Sutton Preferred Realty’s total donations to RMHCSWO to $110,933 over the past nine years. Lori expressed her gratitude, stating, “It’s an absolute honor to help out the best house in London and give sick kids what they need most—time with their families.”

In addition to the annual golf tournament, Sutton Preferred Realty has been involved in other ways. Agents often donate dried food goods to RMHCSWO, and the brokerage holds internal awards to recognize the agents who have gone above and beyond in their volunteer efforts.

The Payne family’s commitment extends beyond just their team. Lori’s sister, Sherri, a Personal Support Worker (PSW) with Ingersoll Support Services, also plays an integral part in these volunteer efforts. Each month, Sherri brings along Gary, one of the adults she supports, to be part of the dinner group. Gary is passionate about giving back and is a cherished member of the team. In recognition of his contributions, Gary received the 2022 Sutton Group Preferred RMH Helping Hand Award, an honor that highlights his dedication to supporting RMHCSWO and being an invaluable part of this charitable mission.

The tournament, held at the end of August, brought together not only agents and their families but also clients, lawyers, mortgage agents, and other members of Sutton’s support network—around 90 people in total. A particularly touching moment came when a young boy’s family, who had benefited from RMHCSWO’s services, shared their story with the attendees, bringing the impact of the charity’s work to life.

Gerry Weir, Lori’s father, who opened Sutton Group Preferred Realty in November 1991 as the first Sutton office in Southwestern Ontario, has played a significant role in fostering this charitable relationship. His leadership, along with Lori’s husband Ken, who serves as the Broker of Record, and their children, who are all involved in the sales and management team, has created a culture of giving back that runs through the entire office. Through this commitment, Sutton Preferred Realty continues to stand as a pillar of support for RMHCSWO, helping to keep families close during their most challenging times.
